MetaTrader 5 connects to Viktury with a file. You save your History report from the MetaTrader 5 desktop terminal and upload it. No password, investor password or API key is involved, and Viktury never logs in to your broker.
Everything below happens in the MetaTrader 5 desktop terminal on your computer. The phone app cannot save a report.
Save your History report
-
Open MetaTrader 5 and sign in to the account you want to add.
-
Open the Toolbox at the bottom of the window (View, then Toolbox, if it is hidden) and choose the History tab.
-
Right-click the list and choose All History. The report has to start with the account's first deposit, so Viktury can check every balance in it.
-
Right-click again and choose Report, then HTML or Open XML. Save the file. Either one works.
Add it to Viktury
Choose MetaTrader on the Add account screen, give the account a name and upload the file as MetaTrader saved it.
Then pick a time zone. MetaTrader 5 writes every time in your broker's server time, not your own, so pick the time zone your broker's server uses. Many brokers run on the same clock as Athens or Cyprus (UTC+2, or UTC+3 in summer). If you are not sure, the time shown at the top of the Market Watch window is the server's time.
Viktury reads the whole report before it imports anything. If something in it cannot be read, you get one sentence that says what, and nothing is imported.
What we import
- Forex and CFD trades, gold included, each one paired with the position MetaTrader 5 says it belongs to.
- Commissions and swaps on each trade.
- Deposits and withdrawals.
- Hedging and netting accounts. On a hedging account a long and a short on the same symbol stay two separate trades.
Each trade is checked against the profit the report states for its position, and your balance is checked against the report's closing balance. Only trades that match count toward your totals.
Accounts in US dollars are supported for now. A report from an account in another currency is refused with a message that says so. MetaTrader 4 reports cannot be imported yet.
Keeping it up to date
A report is a snapshot. To bring the account up to date, save a new report with All History and upload it. Deals that are already in Viktury are not added twice, so uploading an overlapping report only adds what is new.
Troubleshooting
- The report starts after the account's first deposit. Choose All History before you save the report, then upload it again.
- The account is not in US dollars. Only USD accounts can be imported today.
- The Positions or Deals table is missing. Save the standard report without removing any tables or columns.
- A trade says still checking. Viktury could not confirm it from the report: its profit did not match, or the report does not show enough closed trades on that symbol to read its contract size. It stays out of your totals rather than show a wrong number.
- Trades land on the wrong day. The time zone does not match your broker's server. Remove the import and upload the report again with the right time zone.
