How we measure
We take each market’s price in the minute before the release and compare it with its price an hour later.
To tell a big move from an ordinary one, we compare it with that market’s typical move over the same hour of the New York day across the 20 days before. Less than one normal hour counts as no clear reaction.
A move that kept less than half of its biggest swing by the end of the hour is marked reversed. Otherwise it went one way. Highs and lows are minute closing prices, so one stray trade can’t set them.
Figures: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Prices: Hyperliquid BTC and ETH perpetuals, from Hyperliquid’s public trade archive and market data.
