The Right Previous Reading on the Economic Calendar

GDP and Core PCE now show the prior period as their previous figure, and the overnight refresh stops dropping those releases.

A small release, all of it on the economic calendar.

Previous on GDP and Core PCE was the wrong number. The figure next to each release was picked up from a related line in the same period rather than the period before, so a GDP release could show 1.5% with a previous of 7.9% when the quarter before actually came in at 2.1%. Core PCE hit the same problem in a quieter way, often showing a previous almost identical to the actual. Both now read the prior period of the same series, so the comparison in front of you is the one you would draw yourself.

Those releases no longer drop out of the overnight refresh. GDP, PCE and Core PCE come from a source that slows down badly for a stretch late at night. The refresh gave up before it answered and left all three out of that run. It now waits long enough, so the calendar you open in the morning has them.

Everything else on the calendar was already reading correctly and is untouched.
